How
does the money work?
As the saying goes, You need money to make money.
The Triton 9700 is capable of dispensing 2000 bills and if fully
loaded with twenty dollar bills that equates to $40,000. But don't
be alarmed, because most merchants normally load the ATM with
only a few thousand dollars and then restock it every few days.
Make certain that when you commit to purchasing an ATM that you
also have enough cash for at least a 3 day supply of cash so you
are covered over the weekend when usage is typically heaviest.
For example, if you estimate that you will have 600 transactions
in a month (20 per day) and the average withdrawal is $60.00 ($1,200.00
per day), then you should probably load the ATM with about $4,000.00.
Now let me explain how the money cycle works.
As a customer comes up to the ATM he will decide how much money
to withdraw. We will usually set a maximum withdrawal amount of
$200.00 and designate fast keys for $20.00, $40.00, $60.00, $80.00,
and $100.00. Depending upon the location we find that the average
withdrawal will be around $60.00. Let's say that 20 customers
deducted a total of $1,200.00 today. Within 2 business days that
$1,200.00 will be directly deposited through the ACH system into
your business checking account at your bank. Then you will take
that money from the bank in $20.00 bills and reload the ATM cash
cassette. So basically the cash that you load in the ATM is like
a revolving door - from ATM to customer to bank and back to the
ATM.
Then once per month around the 25th of the month,
you will receive your residual check for the surcharge income.
For example, if there were 600 withdrawals in January surcharged
to the customer at $1.50, then around February 25th you will receive
a check for $900.00. An easy to read detailed report showing daily
activity will accompany your check. As a free option, you can
also elect to receive your surcharge income deposited to your
account on a daily basis.
How
do I increase the usage?
Think
of your ATM as your own part-time business. As the old saying
goes, A business without a sign is a sign of no business. Next
time you drive by a convenience store or gas station look for
an ATM sign. There will probably be one prominently displayed
and illuminated at night. These experts at attracting the traveling
public know how important it is to advertise their ATM. If they
can't be wrong then you can't be wrong.
ATM signage comes in many varieties with price
ranges for all budgets. We highly recommend May
Advertising as a source for all of your ATM signage needs.
